Swan was one of the first housing associations to open its own CLT factory back in 2017.
Production has stopped with immediate effect, after the loss making part of the business decided to focus on completing modular home projects in Essex.
In 2020, Swan also opened a second factory specialising in light gauge steel modular housing, with the help of the £4.5m of Government funding.
However, decreased appetite and rising costs have meant that the board have come to this ‘tough’ decision recently.
The hope is that staff from the factories can be redeployed.
